Laminated Bowls

Shown below are some of my favorite bowls created since 1999.   I use a technique, sometimes called "bowl from a board", in which a single square section of a plank is cut into angled concentric rings.  Stacking these rings and gluing them together forms a rough bowl which is then mounted on the lathe for shaping, smoothing and finishing.   The huge number of design possibilities with this technique drew me into the process and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface.
